Servings: 4

assorted fresh berries, such as
strawberries, raspberries,
bluberries, etc.
1/8 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup cold water
16 large egg yolks
3/4 cup Marsala wine
1/4 cup Gran Marnier
1 teaspoon lemon zest
1 tablespoon orange zest
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Mix fresh berries with the water and 1/2 cup of the granulated sugar, stir well, and set aside in the refrigerator for 20-30 minutes.

Evenly distribute the chilled fruit mixture between 12 serving bowls or margarita glasses.

Whisk all of the ingredients in a seperate nonreactive bowl set over simmering water.

Whisk constantly and turn the bowl occassionally until the mixture becomes foamy and then thickens to coat the back of a spoon.

Spoon the custard, while still hot, over the 12 bowls or glasses of the fresh fruit, and refrigerate until ready to enjoy.
